Frankie
Valenzuela was a member of the Corona Del Sol Marching Band in 2000 and
2001. He worked very hard to become a member of the marching band and
he strived to meet the high goals and standards that are a part of the
CdS marching band reputation. He spent long hours every week practicing
music and marching and took private lessons so that he might improve on
his musical skills. It was this dedication and determination that not
only made him and outstanding member of the marching band, but also
helped him deal with his tough two year battle with leukemia.
This
scholarship has been set up in loving memory of Frankie, who will be
remembered always as an outstanding member of the CDS marching band and
and inspiration to all.
The
purpose of this scholarship is to help other dedicated musicians meet
their personal musical goals as well as to help the CDS music program.
In
honor of Frankie, who was an integral student leader, two scholarships
will be awarded annually - one at the Fall marching awards banquet and
one at the Spring awards show.
Awards
will be $350 each, on the basis of commitment to music and the CDS band
programs. These scholarships are intended to allow students to further
their music studies.
